I love beautiful, balanced, natural shapes.

After seeing the artist Ruth Asawa’s work many years ago, I was inspired. The interplay of the beautiful, graceful shapes with their own shadows was stunning—I just had to have one of her pieces.

When I saw the price of an Asawa wire sculpture, though, I knew I would never be able to afford one, so I set out to make something close and branch out from there.

Using my background in French pattern drafting, knitting, and crochet, I experimented with wire one weekend, and I was happy with the results. The wire dictates its own emerging shape.  It’s fascinating to see what each new piece will become.
